Many of friends asked me about how to customize “continue reading…” text on blog page in Woo canvas or how to turn that link into a button using Canvas’s default button styles as on the shortcodes page.
Well this is very easy because this link is actually an output of a shortcode [view_full_article] and we can override this shortcode function using Canvas child theme.
First Create an Canvas child theme and place this function snippet into function.php
You can simply change the text “Read more” in line # 22 to your desired word and save the file. This will reflect the changes on Woo Canvas Blog page and you can see “continue reading…” changed to “Read more”. We can also use this shortcode any where in our pages, posts, shortcodes etc and can change label without need to override the above function just use shortcode like this
This seems very easy now to customize this shortcode.
How to style Continue Reading… link to Canvas button?
Styling the Continue Reading… link on Woo Canvas blog page is simple easy with out any custom css needed. As Woo Canvas provide many built-in buttons and we can use them to style the links. just for reference check out the Woo Canvas shortcode page for all buttons styles. We just need to add CSS classes to link and it will automatically change to button style.
In above code snippet just add built-in button classes to span. I am using default small button class here “woo-sc-button custom”
Change line # 25 in above code to
This will change link to button look
I am also thinking to make a plugin so non developers can easily add button styles from WordPress admin panel as well as can change continue reading… text to something else….
